ShopPOS — Point of Sale & Business Management System
A complete web-based POS and business management system for sales, barcode billing, inventory, customers, employees, expenses, and financial reporting.

Overview
ShopPOS is a web-based Point of Sale (POS) and business management platform developed to help retail stores manage their daily operations from one centralized system. It combines fast barcode-based billing, product and inventory management, purchasing, sales history, customer and supplier records, employee management, expense tracking, and business reporting.
The POS interface allows staff to scan a product barcode or search for a product, add items to an invoice, adjust quantities, apply discounts, select a payment method, and print a receipt. The system supports configurable product information, optional batch and expiry tracking, barcode generation, and stock monitoring.
It also includes role-based access control, allowing administrators to assign different permissions to managers, cashiers, inventory staff, accountants, and other employees. The responsive web interface is designed for desktop and mobile use, with camera-based barcode scanning supported where the device and browser permit it.
What I built
I developed a centralized POS and retail management workflow that connects product catalog management, barcode scanning, cart operations, invoice generation, payment processing, stock updates, and sales records.
The system also organizes purchasing, supplier records, customer accounts, staff permissions, business expenses, returns, and reporting. Product forms support pricing, stock quantities, barcode details, and optional batch or expiry information. Invoice settings and payment methods can be managed centrally, while employees receive access only to the modules permitted by their assigned roles.
The interface was designed with a clean red-and-white visual theme, a practical checkout layout, and responsive screens for common retail operations.
Why I built it
The objective was to simplify retail operations by replacing disconnected billing, stock, employee, and financial records with one integrated system. The platform was designed to speed up checkout, reduce manual calculation errors, improve stock visibility, organize customer and supplier information, and give business owners a clearer overview of sales and expenses.
Role-based permissions help businesses delegate daily work without providing every employee with unrestricted administrative access.
Problems solved
Faster checkout through barcode scanning and product search.
Automatic invoice totals based on product prices and quantities.
Support for discounts, multiple payment methods, and due amounts.
Centralized product, stock, purchase, and supplier management.
Optional batch and expiry tracking for products that require it.
Barcode generation, label printing, and invoice printing.
Organized customer, employee, and expense records.
Sales, purchase, profit, and stock reports.
Low-stock visibility and inventory movement tracking.
Role-based access for administrators and employees.
Responsive access from desktop and compatible mobile devices.
What I learned
This project strengthened my understanding of POS workflows, product and inventory data management, barcode-based checkout, invoice calculations, payment handling, purchasing and sales records, reporting, and role-based authorization.
It also reinforced the importance of keeping stock quantities consistent across sales and purchases, maintaining clear payment and invoice statuses, and designing interfaces that enable staff to complete frequent retail tasks quickly.
